OBITUARY
Farmer Branch Oldest Resident Dies at Age 88
FARMERS BRANCH - Balam A. Marcom, 88, of 2408 Pike, active in community
affairs and the oldest resident of Farmers Branch until his death, died here
Saturday.
Born in Friendship, Tenn., he had been a resident of Farmers Branch for 84
years. He received a plaque at the Farmers Branch Day celebration here last year
for being the oldest resident.
Marcom had served on the school board from 1930-52, and on the city council from
1952-56. He was a member of the James A. Smith Masonic Lodge and Hella Temple
Shrine. He also was a member of the
Webb Chapel Methodist Church.
He retired in 1950 as a road builder and supervisor for Dallas County
District 1 after 45 years.
Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Monday in the First Baptist Church here,
with burial in the Farmers Branch
