OBITUARY
Tommie Padgett Dead
Deep gloom was cast over Carrollton community Tuesday afternoon when word was
received that Tommie Padgett was dead. He had only been ill a few days. Was
taken ill Wednesday of last week and Sunday his condition became most alarming
and he was taken to St. Paul Sanitarium, where he was reported to be seriously
ill with pneumonia. All that medical aid could do was done but he continued to
grow worse until the end came about noon, Tuesday, April 23.
Tommie Padgett was born February 1883, at Parker, Collin County, and with his
parents moved to Carrollton 27 years ago where he had lived most of the time
since. He hade been employed with the county for the past two years, and had
been with the Sheriff's department in Dallas seventeen years.
Mr. Padgett married Miss Jonnie May in 1912 and to this union two children were
born. He is survived by his wife and two children; his parents Mr. and Mrs. J.
S. Padgett, one brother, H. E. Padgett, all of Carrollton.
Funeral services were held Wednesday afternoon at 2 o'clock at the Methodist
Church, conducted by Rev. D. A. Ross, assisted by Rev. D. E. Fuller of Grand
Prairie. Interment will be in
Farmers Branch Cemetery.
