OBITUARY

Edina Welsh Sauer
Nov. 25, 1962 - Oct. 29, 2022

Our beloved Edina Welsh Sauer went to rest with her Lord and Savior on Saturday, October 29, 2022. Edina was the middle child of Hugh Clayton Welsh, Jr and Julia Ann Thompson Welsh and Connie Patton Welsh, and was born at Herman Hospital in Houston where she was so proud to say that her grandfather, Hugh Clayton Welsh, Sr, was Chief of Staff. Edina was gifted with the voice of an angel and often sang solos in church, weddings, musicals and operas. She loved playing the piano and teaching music. She had an unquenchable thirst to know God more deeply byreading her bible and Christian books daily, and then teaching bible studies for many years. She was the children's choir director for some time at Park Cities Presbyterian Church, a member of the Chancel Choir and taught a Women's RUF Bible Study at SMU. She loved her many years at Camp Longhorn, her time as a counselor at Kanakuk and life in general. After graduating from R.L. Turner High School in 1981, she attended the University of Texas where she studied Music Performance and Education. She was a member of the Pi Beta Phi sorority and the Longhorn Singers. Upon graduating from UT in 1985, she taught music in Spring Branch ISD in Houston, and continued singing solos at 2nd Baptist in Houston. She married her favorite guy, Patrick K. Sauer (Pat) in 1987 and then continued teaching in San Antonio. Pat's job moved them to Phoenix where she went back to school at Arizona State pursuing a Masters in Voice Performance. She loved adventures and embraced the many moves for Pat's career, from San Antonio to Phoenix, Boston, Virginia and finally Dallas. Everywhere Edina went she always managed to attract the highest quality of friends. She continued singing in musicals and operas in the Dallas area and ended her teaching career at Hyer Elementary in the Highland Park ISD after teaching music at West Dallas Community School. She treasured her prayer group of faithful women she had for more than 28 years. Edina was beautiful with a magnetic personality, but more importantly sought to foster deep and caring relationships with everyone she could, continuously pouring into others throughout her life. Edina loved and was loved by her friends and immediate family as well as her extended families of the Sauer Family, the King Family, the Moczygemba Family, the Robbins Family, the Thompson Family, the Patton Family and the Jones Family. While these were all so special, she deeply loved and cherished her husband and four sons. She will be dearly missed, but we celebrate her life and her eternal peace with her Lord and Savior in heaven where we look forward to seeing her again. She is preceded in death by her father, Hugh Clayton Welsh, Jr. and her biological mother Julia Ann Welsh, as well as her brother Clayton. She is survived by her husband of 35 years Patrick Keith Sauer, Sr, her sons Patrick Keith Sauer, Jr, Timothy Clayton Sauer, Hogan Paul Sauer and his wife Olivia Vandiver Sauer and Kemp Halligan Sauer, her mom Connie Patton Welsh, brother Timothy Halligan Welsh, brother Adrian Patton Welsh and his wife Lisa Welsh, along with a multitude of precious nieces and nephews. A memorial service will be held on Thursday November 3rd, 2022 at 1:30 pm at Park Cities Presbyterian Church, 4124 Oak Lawn Ave, Dallas, Texas 75219. In lieu of flowers, the family would appreciate a donation to vital Huntington's Research at the Huntington's Disease Society of America in Edina's Memory. https://hdsa.org/about-hdsa/ Click "Donate" at the top right.
