FUNERAL PROGRAM
In Loving Memory of Mattie Easter Tracy Lewis
December 3, 1913 - September 4, 2003
Mattie Easter Tracy was born in Farmers Branch in 1913. She married
Garnia McNab Lewis in 1930. These two sixteen year olds had tremendous
faith and determination. Together they raised 5 children, but Mattie was
like a mother to many others during her lifetime. She and Garnia lived
in Farmers Branch where they were active for many years in the First
Baptist church and other Baptist churches. In 1971, they moved to Little
Elm and became active in the First Baptist Church there. Mattie taught
Sunday School for most of her adult life. She read the Bible religiously
and maintained a strong faith in God.
Special memories of Mattie--Mama--Granny--come to mind:
- a warm and loving smile
- a generous hug and kiss
- an understanding listener
- her beautiful white hair
- quoting scripture and Bible passages
- the best fruit cobblers and fruitcake
- saying "Come on in and stay a while."
- knowing just what you needed
- vegetables, yummy with bacon grease
And the list could go on and on. Mattie gently guided and led family and
friends, and she always provided a "safe harbor" in any storm.
Mattie was loved by many. Even though she will be missed greatly, she
will live on in our hearts and minds.Submitted by
