OBITUARY

Deputy Constable Succumbs After Breaking Up Fight

Elmer Noel, 45, of Carrollton, picturesque deputy constable for the last ten years, died of a heart attack early this (Saturday) morning at Baylor Hospital after he had separated two men fighting at the Old Top Rail Tavern, six miles out on the Northwest Highway, a short time before.
According to Deputy Sheriff Bill Decker, Noel, in ill health for some time, sat down after the exertion and complained of feeling bad. He died on being taken to the hospital.

Deputy Constable's Rites to Be Today

Funeral services for Elmer Noel, 45, Carrollton deputy constable who died early Saturday of a heart attacking following the exertion of stopping a fight in a tavern on on the Northwest Highway, will be conducted at 2 p.m. Sunday at the Carrollton Christian Church by the Rev. D. H. Bonner. Burial will be in Perry Cemetery.
Mr. Noel had been a deputy constable at Carrollton ten years and had lived in Carrollton more than twenty-five years. He was a member of the Farmers Branch Odd Fellows Lodge and the Carrollton Christian Church.
He is survived by his wife, Mrs. Pearl Noel; three sons, Edward, James and Ernest Noel, all of Carrollton; his father Sam Noel, Belcherville, Montague County; four brothers, Frank Noel, Waxahachie; Earl Noel and Clarence Noel, Royse City, and Willie Noel, Carrollton; three sisters, Miss Virgie Noel, Belcherville, Mrs. Irene Clawson, Dallas, and Mrs. Hazel Buckley, Belcherville.

OBITUARY

ELMER NOEL, DEPUTY CONSTABLE, RAIL FOREMAN, DIES

Elmer Noel, resident of Carrollton for several years and deputy constable and local crew foreman, died suddenly Friday night at a result of a heart attack.

Mr. Noel had just separated two men in a fight when he grabbed at his chest and complained of feeling bad. He was rushed immediately in a car to a Dallas hospital, but died before arrival there.

Funeral services were held in the local First Christian church with Rev. D. H. Bonner, First Baptist minister, officiating at 2 o'clock Sunday afternoon. Burial was in the local cemetery. The Odd Fellows lodge of which he was a member, conducted graveside rites. He was a member of the Royce City Christian church.

Surviving include the widow, Mrs. Pearl Noel; three sons, Edward, Ernest and James father, Sam, Noel of Belcherville, Texas; four brothers, Frank of Waxahachie, Earl of Nacoma, Clarence of Royce City and Willie Noel; three sisters, Miss Virgie Noel of Belcherville, Irene Clawson of Dallas and Mrs. Hazel Buckley of Belcherville.
