OBITUARY
 
Frederick Williams "Ted" Mayes
Frederick William "Ted" Mayes, Sr., age 94 years and 7 days, died peacefully Wednesday, April 6, 2011 at his home in the arms of his family. Ted was born March 29, 1917 in the Round Grove community of Lewisville, Texas to Edgar and Louise Mayes. He was preceded in death by his parents, sisters Fredda Wilcher, Margye Cluck, Christine Wallace, and his brother Clyde E. "Count" Mayes. His first wife, Grace Elizabeth "Beth" Buster Mayes died May 2, 2001. He is survived by his three sons Frederick William Mayes, Jr and his wife, Patricia and their daughter Sunnye Mayes Russiello and her husband Thomas Russiello Jr., and their daughters Madison and Sadie Russiello. Also Ronald L. Mayes, his wife Patsy Riches, Ron's daughters Sara Bradley Mayes, Megan Mayes McMillan and her husband Murray McMillan, and Ron's stepchildren, Jennifer Beal, her husband Eric Beal, and their daughter Emily, and Jonathan Pape and his daughter Alannah. Ted's son Roderick E. "Rick" Mayes and his wife Kathy and his stepdaughter, Kyndra and her son Kaleb. His second wife Margaret "Joyce" Ball Mayes died April 4, 2009. Ted is survived by his sisters Merle Isom, Cora Cerniak, Regina Stephens and brothers, Edgar D. Mayes and Jack H. Mayes, and a host of nephews, nieces, relatives and friends. Ted attended Carrollton schools, North Texas Agricultural College at Arlington, TX and received his LLB from Southern Methodist University and was admitted to the Texas Bar in 1942. Ted served over three years in the U.S. Air Force during World War II with the 5th and 6th Ferry Command Units. In Ted's early career, he was proudly involved as an associate with his brother, Count Mayes, in the Irby Mayes Men's Stores, as well as sales work with Dreyfuss & Sons and Richard Bennett Custom Tailors. He practiced law for over 60 years and was also a licensed independent insurance broker. He owned and operated farms in the Texas Panhandle and remained a very active member of his church (where he was an elder) and in his community. His personal interests were in helping and assisting others. He loved the outdoor life and spent his spare time in his garden. He was well-known in his neighborhood for his starring role in the annual Double Oak Fourth of July Parades. Visitation will be held at the Mulkey-Mason Funeral Home, from noon to 8 PM on Friday, April 8, 2011. A private family graveside service will be held at 11:00 AM, Saturday April 9, 2011 at Chinn Chapel Cemetery, Lewisville, Texas. A Memorial Service will be held at the Trinity Presbyterian Church, 5500 Morris Road, Flower Mound, Texas at 3:00 PM Saturday, April 9, 2011. The services will be officiated by Rev. Frank C. Ehman, Jr. and Associate Pastor Marta Ukropina.
